  ChangeBlog: DKMS 0.45.01

DKMS 0.45.01 is now available (tarball or RPM):

* Changed the logic behind when modules.conf gets edited during a remove. Previously, after a remove would complete, DKMS would automatically re-add references into modules.conf for that module regardless of whether the module which was just removed was active on that kernel or not. Now, DKMS only adds the references back into modules.conf if that module was active for that kernel and, if and only if, there is at least one other kernel which still has that module installed on it.

* Added hugemem kernel prep support for RH hugemem kernels.

It doesn't install on Debian sid:

Installing DKMS
cp: cannot create regular file `/etc/rc.d/init.d': No such file or directory
./install.sh: line 28: chkconfig: command not found

Is this known to run on anything else than RedHat?

Where does Debian keep its sysV scripts? DKMS should work just fine on non-rh distros, but i guess in this case, the boot-up autoinstaller service must be in some rh specific dir that I didn't realize. As this is not a critical piece, you should be ok without it. What really matters is the dkms executable.

Where do bootup service scripts go on debian?

I think that stuff is really missing documentation. I looked at the megaraid source, but I can't figure out basic Makefile and dkms.conf for my own 2.4 modules.

The makefile is the makefile which will you use to build your module, dkms does not need anything in particular. Just be sure to give the right MAKE command in your dkms.conf.

As far as documentation, I do try to stay very diligent in updating the man page. Let me know specifically what you are looking for and I will try to address it.
