Moe. to offer their music via WiFi
As seen on jambands.com: moe. has announced that it will be offering fans high-quality digital audience recordings at this year’s moe.down, slated for Labor Day Weekend in Turin, NY. The event will feature an audio file server with both ethernet and Wi-Fi connections for those that bring laptop computers. The server will feature archived recordings - in both MP3 and SHN format - from past moe.downs as well as this year’s performances, which will be available within a few hours of each show. All downloads are free of charge. So, basically, bring your laptop and wifi connection to their festival and leave with everything you heard. Along with Phish and its livephish service, Moe. is now leading the music industry by offering music, not only free of DRM, but also now directly available using 802.11. Those in the open-source world should start drawing strong parallels between open-source code and open-access to music. Are "jam bands" to music what GNU is to software? Separately, imagine if they were streaming music live rather than a couple hours afterwards for a small charge and you brought a wifi enabled handheld with you. It seems to me that this is the future of a making money on music in the internet age. Meet the Press today was talking quite seriously about the Clark campaign as it appears Washington insiders are almost sure his hat is going into the ring. Further, I just learned from the Wesley Clark blog that apparently the Dean and Clark camps are already talking to each other. Great news to me (though I think Clark is the more electable president than Dean). These two in combination, I believe, are set to roll over Bush. Here's the key: * Push for the UN takeover of operations in Iraq I'm a big fan of his new show on HBO.
